AFRICUSSION PERCUSSION DISCUSSION ROCKS THE CONFABULATION ARTS INTEGRATION CONFERENCE 2019 IN LAS VEGAS -060419

As the featured artist for the citywide Professional Development program for over 300 Teachers, Harold Akyeampong  and his AFRICUSSION PERCUSSION DISCUSSION left a "What A Wow!" Impression yesterday at the Knudson School's plush theater.
Africussion featuring Mike on Keyboard, Mohammed on Sax, Harold on Percussion with Queen Donna delivering powerful messages in her Poems got the whole theater and the participants electrified with Candy, Kim, Melanie and all the Education Department Staff of The Smith Center, Susan of the Office of Curriculum and Instruction, CCSD and other important leaders of the day leading the dances. Before the full band played, Harold using drums and props told excerpts of his journey from his rural town in Ghana to College and how he relocated from New York to Las Vegas. Did you miss this?
It was a happy and thank you day after two days of intensive Professional Development.
The event was organized by The Smith Center and the CCSD.

Watch excerpts of the performance.

Also, it had to tie into skills/standards they already addressed, rather than one more thing to add to their day. (Of course, all of those things can occur through arts integration, but in the time allotted, I didn’t have time to thoroughly share that information.) I compiled my resources below. It is certainly not all inc...
